A drunk driving suspect allegedly used body spray to try to cover up the odor of open alcohol in her vehicle.
Shamoriae Lashae McClain, 29, of Leesburg, was traveling on South 14th Street at 3:20 a.m. Sunday when she was pulled over for failure to maintain a single lane, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The officer noted the “strong odor of body spray” that had just been sprayed. The officer also detected the “odor of an alcoholic beverage” coming from the interior of the vehicle. A red disposable cup was concealed between a passenger’s leg and the passenger door.
McClain claimed she was not intoxicated.
She provided breath samples that registered .162 and .175 blood alcohol content. She was booked at the Lake County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
