One person killed in crash in Leesburg

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in which one person has been confirmed dead in Leesburg.

Leesburg Fire Rescue responded at about noon Monday to the two-vehicle crash at South Street at Caballo Road. Two people were trapped inside one of the vehicles and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. One person was airlifted from the scene. Another five people were treated at the scene by Lake EMS.

An adult male was later pronounced dead at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The intersection was blocked off for the investigation.
