New cases of COVID-19 continued to pop up across Florida on Monday as the state reported 72 more deaths connected to the fast-spreading virus.
All told, Florida is reporting 2,047,379 COVID-19 cases – an increase of 3,374 from Sunday to Monday. Of those, 2,009,408 are residents. A total of 82,861 COVID-19 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 31,551 in correctional facilities. Across the state, there have been 33,891 deaths and 84,707 people have been hospitalized.
Locally, Lake County is reporting 26,507 COVID-19 cases – an increase of 37 in a 24-hour period. There have been 600 deaths and 1,405 people have been hospitalized.
Leesburg is now reporting 4,041 cases – an overnight increase of 11. Others have been identified in Clermont (6,961), Eustis (2,339), Mount Dora (1,978), Tavares (1,886), Groveland (1,789), Lady Lake (1,599), Minneola (780), Sorrento (769), Fruitland Park (740), Umatilla (689), Mascotte (517), Grand Island (338), Montverde (324), Astatula (207), Howey-in-the-Hills (196), Altoona (189), The Villages (176), Paisley (131), Astor (103), Yalaha (78), Okahumpka (52), Mount Plymouth (12) and Ferndale (9).
