George Earl Tompkins, 83, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
Born in Binghamton, New York, he moved to Leesburg in November of 2003, from Johnson City, NY. He was a Component Engineer working with IBM/Lockheed Martin prior to his retirement. George also retired from the United States Navy Reserves and he served in the US Army and National Guard. He was an avid reader and dog lover, He enjoyed his Bible studies and furniture refinishing. He was the neighborhood mechanic and enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by Wife, Gay Tompkins of Leesburg, FL; Daughter, Deborah Gay (Mark) Babbage of Altamonte Springs, FL; Son, John Charles Tompkins of Rochester, NY; Daughter, Kara Gay Burgan of Ashburn, VA; Brother – Barry Francis (Betty)Tompkins of Binghamton, NY; Grandchildren, Brendan, Paige, Sarah, Aubrey and Brady, and by numerous extended family and friends.
Private interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
