Charles Frederick Egner Jr.

Charles Egner Jr.

Charles “Chuck” Frederick Egner, Jr, 67 years of age, passed away on October 9, 2020 at UF Health in Leesburg, FL with his family near him.

Chuck was a Leesburg native, born September 20, 1953 to Fritz and Winnie Egner. He left school in 1968 to work with his dad laying tile and drywall. Through years of good work, he became known as one of the best drywall contractors in Lake County. In 2004, he decided to start a lawn business, which he operated until his retirement in 2015.

Chuck loved and lived for hunting. He and his boys spent every year looking forward to hunting season. During the off-season, they would talk about getting ready for the next trip. He especially loved bow hunting.

“My husband was an amazing man, always helping me. He loved me and my children like they were his own. I will be forever grateful for him. Laughter! That is one thing we always had in common. He had the most infectious laugh.” He was a Christian man who knew how to share joy with others.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Michele Egner (married May 11, 2002); his children, Philip (Lauren) Egner, Jordan (Kacie) Egner, Lori (Cliff) Munn, and Devon Smart; grandchildren, Raigan, Harrison, Ryann and Lennox Rose Egner; brothers, Karl Edward Egner, Tyler Monroe (Cheryl) Egner and Philip Terry (Cindy) Egner; father-in-law, Howard J. Tucker, Sr; aunt, Judith A. Calderon, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Frederick “Fritz” Egner, Sr. and Carol “Winnie” Egner.

A celebration of Charles entering the kingdom of heaven will be held in the gymnasium at Trinity Assembly of God in Fruitland Park on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10:30 am. Casual attire and Oakwood will be catering. We are doing what Chuck would want: a celebration of life. Chuck would want everyone sitting around just telling stories, something he was so good at. Everyone enjoyed his stories.
