Ruby Catherine Alexander, commonly known as Catherine, departed this world on September 29, 2020 at the age of 82.
She was born in Avon Park on October 18, 1937, and she had resided the last years of her life in Leesburg, Florida with her husband of 66 years, Charles Alexander, her sister, and niece. She greatly loved and was loved by her daughter, Dawn Windham, and two grandchildren, Caleb and Travis. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Alexander, sister, Barbara, brother Gerald, nieces Cathy and Brenda, and nephew, Mark.
Catherine grew up in Avon Park with her mother, Jeanette, and stepfather Theo, and father Estil. She graduated from high school at the age of 16 on a Wednesday and got married the next Wednesday to Charles Alexander. She worked as a purchasing clerk at Waukesha Engine. She was a strong woman and a friend to everyone she met. She loved to talk and visit with others. One time she called to complain about a phone bill and ended up talking to the person at the call center for over an hour! She enjoyed cooking and during her daughter’s teenage years, everyone would gather at her table to enjoy the best homemade French fries and fried pork chops. She loved listening to music, had a beautiful voice and the last years of her life she loved to listen to her grandson, Caleb, sing and play his guitar.
She is being laid to rest on Friday October 2, 2020 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Florida. The graveside service will be held at 10 AM.
