Multiple deaths and COVID-19 cases reported at Leesburg long-term care centers

Twelve deaths and 91 cases of COVID-19 have been reported among residents and staff members at long-term care facilities in Leesburg.

Seven of the deaths were reported at South Campus Care Center, 715 E. Dixie Ave. in Leesburg. The other five were at Avante at Leesburg Inc., 2000 Edgewood Ave. All 12 deaths were among residents at the two facilities.

On Tuesday, six long-term care centers in Leesburg reported 91 cases among 74 residents, five residents who transferred out of the facilities and 12 employees. Those include:

• Avante at Leesburg Inc., 2000 Edgewood Ave. (43 residents and eight employees);
• South Campus Care Center, 715 E. Dixie Ave. in Leesburg (24 residents);
• Vista Lake, 700 S. Lake St. in Leesburg (seven employees, five residents who transferred out of the facility and one employee);
• North Campus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 700 N. Palmetto St. in Leesburg (one employee);
• Shady Lane Retirement Home, 201 Rosefield Ave. in Leesburg (one employee);
• Lake Harris Health Center, 701 Lake Port. Blvd. in Leesburg (one employee).
