Eleven deaths and 89 cases of COVID-19 have been reported among residents and staff members at long-term care facilities in Leesburg as the virus continues to wreak havoc on the elderly in the local area.

Seven of the deaths were reported at South Campus Care Center, 715 E. Dixie Ave. in Leesburg. The other four were at Avante at Leesburg Inc., 2000 Edgewood Ave. All 11 deaths were among residents at the two facilities.

On Saturday, five long-term care centers in Leesburg reported 89 cases among 57 residents, 10 residents who transferred out of the facilities and 22 employees. Those include:

  • South Campus Care Center, 715 E. Dixie Ave. in Leesburg (24 residents);
  • Avante at Leesburg Inc., 2000 Edgewood Ave. (23 residents, five who transferred out of the facility and 18 employees);
  • North Campus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 700 N. Palmetto St. in Leesburg (two employees);
  • Shady Lane Retirement Home, 201 Rosefield Ave. in Leesburg (one employee); and
  • Vista Lake, 700 S. Lake St. in Leesburg (10 residents, five residents who transferred out and one employee).
