Mildred Carlton

Mildred S. Carlton, 97, a lifelong resident of Leesburg, FL, went to be with her Lord on July 20th, 2020.

Mildred was born on August 21, 1922 in Orlando, Florida to Marion L. and Maggie Grace (Wall) Stewart. Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband, O.B. Carlton, Sr, and her second husband; Ed Miller. She was the last of nine siblings to survive. She is survived by her children; Oliver Carlton (Amelia) of Leesburg, FL and Kay Swain (Dale) of Bushnell, FL. She was blessed with four grandchildren; Dana Carlton, Shane Carlton (Erin), Sunny Emily and Kale Swain (Kate). She also had 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her longtime beloved pet, Breanna

Mildred worked as a telephone operator at Florida Telephone Company where she retired after 29 years. She was also a member of the Florida Telephone Pioneers. Mildred loved her Lord and was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church, Leesburg. For many years she worked in the church nursery and kitchen and enjoyed being a part of the Sign Language and Daughters of Ruth classes. She was also a long time member of the Leesburg Boat Club.

Mildred truly cherished her family, friends and neighbors – and was truly cherished by them. She loved good food and socializing. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time in her garden. Her other interests included fishing, sewing, cooking and dancing.

Funeral services will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, FL on Saturday, July 25. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with services at 10:00 AM and interment at Lone Oak Cemetery immediately following.
