Leesburg Library serving as drop-off site for Toys for Tots campaign

The Leesburg Public Library will serve as an official drop-off site for this year’s Marines Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign.

The Leesburg Library, located at 100 E Main Street, will be accepting toys for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign through Dec. 14.

The library will be accepting new, unwrapped toys through Dec. 14. Those wishing to make donations can leave them at a drop box near the first-floor service desk.

Toys for Tots, which was founded in 1947 by Marine Corps Reservist Maj. Bill Hendricks, benefits children whose parents can’t afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. It is well-known as a highly successful fundraiser in the Central Florida area. The stated goal of the program is to deliver through a new toy at Christmas “a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.”
