The Leesburg City Commission approved an agreement with a Lady Lake company Monday night to repair damage left behind by vandals at the Rogers Park Pavilion.
The agreement, not to exceed $32,000, is with Jerome’s Masonry Inc. The company will be removing hallway drywall to a height of six feet, installing additional intermediate metal studs, installing impact-resistant wallboard, removing all bathroom fixtures, installing a five-foot tile wainscot, reinstalling all fixtures and partitions, refinishing the floors with an epoxy coating, and texturing and painting all areas.
Leesburg officials believe the use of impact-resistant wallboard and tile in the restrooms will help eliminate or minimize vandalism at the facility, which has included holes knocked through the existing drywall.
Work on the facility is scheduled to be completed by March 10 in advance of the opening of the city’s popular splash pad for area schoolchildren on spring break.
