Convicted Wildwood sex offender jailed after allegedly abusing 911

William Cantwell

A convicted Wildwood sex offender was jailed after allegedly abusing 911.

William Blakely Cantwell, 41, at about 9 p.m. Friday called 911 inquiring about a taxi, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Cantwell indicated he had been at Leesburg Regional Medical Center due to an injury to his feet, but had been asked to leave by security.

Cantwell had made numerous calls to 911 days earlier in the week, the report noted. It also indicated the Trenton, N.J. native has a prior arrest by Leesburg police for abusing 911.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.

Cantwell had been convicted in 2011 in Sumter County on a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a victim under the age of 16. In 2014, he was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender.
