Villager arrested after spotted in SUV in parking lot at Leesburg motel

Melissa Mae Mullins

A Villager was arrested after she was spotted in an SUV in the parking motel at a Leesburg motel.

Melissa Mae Mullins, 52, who lives on the Historic Side of The Villages, was seen early Monday morning in a beige Chevy SUV at the Sleep Inn motel on Citrus Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

As the police officer approached the vehicle, Mullins quickly exited the SUV and began walking toward the motel, dropping a $10 bill in the process.

The officer asked if he could search the SUV and Mullins agreed.

A make-shift pipe for smoking crack was discovered.

She was taken into custody on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the booking process, it was discovered that Mullins was already on probation in connection with a 2017 case in which she stole two employees’ iPhones at Applebee’s restaurant in The Villages.

She was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.
