Leesburg CVS manager charged with stealing deposits totaling more than $17,000

Jacqueline S. Case

A manager at a CVS Pharmacy in Leesburg was arrested Monday after Leesburg police were called to the store over missing cash.

Jacqueline S. Case, 56, was taken into custody at the store, located at 1235 N. 14th Street, after admitting to a CVS loss prevention officer that she failed to make 10 bank deposits totaling $17,419.02, a police report states.

Case, who is accused of stealing the deposits from June 1 through June 10, admitted in writing to taking the money and signed a promissory note to repay CVS, the report says, adding that she told the loss prevention officer she needed the money for bills and medical expenses.

Case, who lives at 37 Marina Drive in Leesburg, also said that she attempted to pay back some of the earlier deposits, but “quickly became overwhelmed and was unable to deposit any money into the store’s account,” the report says.

Case was transported to the Lake County Jail and charged with grand theft and fraud. She was released just after 9 p.m. on $7,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Lake County courtroom on July 9.
