Officers responded to a burglary at an undisclosed Leesburg residence Monday night, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. They were told that 42-year-old Mikel Jamal Perry had entered the woman’s home without being invited in. He had damaged the wall and TV, as well.

The woman told police that Perry, her ex-boyfriend, broke into her residence through her bedroom window. Once he was inside her room, she screamed for him to leave as she did not want him there, the report said.

This enraged Perry, and he punched a hole in her wall next to the door that led to the rest of her residence, broke her Samsung TV and shattered her cell phone. He then left the residence through the kitchen door that led to the back of the place, the report said.

The woman further explained that she and Perry ended their relationship in February, and he had not lived there since that time frame. She estimated the exact date to be Feb. 16. She also valued the wall damage at $300, the TV at $250, the window at $600 and the phone at $54, the report said.

The window in question was not observed to be shattered or broken but appeared to be completely removed from the outer wall of the residence. While on scene, a large hole was seen inside the victim’s bedroom on the wall next to her door leading to the hallway area. This hole was consistent with being made by punching a wall. The TV also looked to have been punched, as it was cracked into several pieces, the report said.

Officers then talked to a witness who stated she was a friend that had been staying at the victim’s residence. She saw Perry inside of the residence while in a verbal disturbance with the victim. She also watched him leave through the kitchen door that led to the back of the residence. The witness advised that she had personal knowledge that Perry did not live there, the report said.

Perry was later arrested on charges of burglary occupied dwelling (no forced entry) and criminal mischief (over $1,000). Other charges were added from a separate warrant, including simple battery with one prior conviction (domestic), criminal mischief (over $200 under $1,000), two counts of tampering with a victim or witness and battery (second or subsequent offense). The New York native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $43,500.
