Off-duty deputy arrests Lady Lake man after spotting him walking on busy highway

Christopher Isaac Jacobsen

An off-duty deputy arrested a Lady Lake man after spotting him walking on a busy highway.

The Lake County sheriff’s deputy was driving shortly before 4 p.m. Monday on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Leesburg when he spotted the man walking in a lane of traffic.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and used his squad car as a barrier to protect the man from traffic.

The man, later identified as 26-year-old Christopher Isaac Jacobsen, then walked into other lanes of oncoming traffic, forcing vehicles to hit their brakes. Jacobsen threw a flashlight away from the scene after taking it from his pocket, an arrest report said. A substance in the flashlight was determined to be methamphetamine.

He was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $3,000.

Jacobsen has been arrested two other times year, once on drug possession charges and the other for driving without a license.
