A Leesburg woman was arrested after calling the police while trespassing at a home from which she had just been evicted.
Deputies responded to a residence on South Lone Oak Drive in Leesburg at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20 with a writ of possession to evict 65-year-old Ella Beth Poper, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Poper was still inside the home at the time, but she refused to come out voluntarily. Even after being escorted outside, she still refused to leave the premises. More attempts were made to convince her to leave without success, the report said.
Due to this, she was placed under arrest. Deputies began to handcuff her as she called 911 and connected to the Leesburg Police Department. She repeatedly pulled away from the deputies and would not cooperate with their instructions, the report said.
The deputies ultimately secured Poper in handcuffs and spoke with the LPD dispatcher, who was still on the phone. After being told the circumstances, the dispatcher cancelled inbound LPD units, the report said.
Poper was charged with trespass on unoccupied structure, misuse of 911 and resist officer without violence. The New Jersey native was booked at the Lake County Jail, where she was released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on Aug. 5.
