A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly kicking his wife and dragging her by the hair.
Officers responded to a battery involving 26-year-old Christopher Valentine and his wife of two years at their Leesburg residence around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, July 19, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The two had since separated, and Valentine left in his black Chevy Impala.
Upon arrival, the officers met the wife. She advised that Valentine got angry because she did not want to leave the room that they shared. She had no clothes on and needed to get dressed, as he kept yelling at her, the report said.
She stated multiple times, “Please stop acting like this,” but Valentine would not listen. She told him that she needed some of her things, yet he made her get out anyway and started to “beat her up.” She was then kicked to the ground, which led to his toenail scratching her right leg, the report said.
Valentine proceeded to grab his wife’s hair and bra at the same time to drag her. He subsequently left in his Impala, the report said.
The report noted slight redness on the wife’s face and arm, as well as scratches on her right leg and chest.
Officers were still at the scene when Valentine returned. He told them that he got home from work at 1:30 p.m., and he was trying to eat when the battery happened. His wife was being annoying and trying to pick a fight with him. She attacked him when he tried to leave, which made him retaliate and “push her off of him,” the report said.
Additionally, a lethality assessment was completed. It determined the wife was in a potentially lethal situation, the report said.
Valentine was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
