Janet Carol Myers, 87, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026.
Born on October 5, 1938, in Adams County, Ohio, Janet grew up on a farm in Seaman, Ohio, with her parents, Bunnard and Ada Young, her three brothers, and her grandmother. She was known for her fun-loving spirit, love of family and friends, and her years of service as a secretary for Amanda-Clearcreek Schools. She played both the clarinet and piano. Above all, Janet loved spending time with her family and treasured every opportunity to be together.
After retiring from Amanda-Clearcreek Schools, Janet and her husband of 68 years, Donald Clay Myers, moved to Fruitland Park, Florida. They enjoyed spending time on their boat, attending yard sales, collecting antiques, selling treasures at Renninger’s Flea Market, and traveling in their RV. Janet especially loved visiting the beach, sewing, baking, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite adventure was the RV trip she and Donald took out West, creating memories she treasured for the rest of her life.
The neighbors on Wilmington Road became like family to Janet and Donald. Especially after Donald’s passing, they checked in on Janet, brought her meals, visited with her, and surrounded her with friendship and support, for which the family will always be grateful.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Donald Clay Myers; her son, Timothy Myers; her granddaughter, Jennifer; her parents, Bunnard and Ada Young; her brothers, Paul Young, Dale (Betty) Young, and Frank (JoAnn) Young; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Tom Adloff.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Jardin and Michele (Daniel) Cleary; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Anne Young; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Lake Port Square for their exceptional care, kindness, and friendship.
A memorial service celebrating Janet’s life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Amanda Methodist Church, 200 E. High Street, Amanda, Ohio, officiated by Pastor Gerald Mershimer.
