A Leesburg woman will appear in court after attempting to steal $19 in food from Walmart.
An officer responded to a theft at Walmart, 2501 Citrus Blvd., around 10:15 a.m. on July 11, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, loss prevention had already detained the 24-year-old suspect, Taleesha Alexis Smart.

Using surveillance cameras, loss prevention watched Smart skip-scan beef hamburger patties, hamburger buns and Cabot Creamery cheddar cheese. She then tried to leave the store with the $19.59 merchandise, the report said.
A record check revealed Smart had previously been trespassed from the store for suspected retail theft in Jan. 2023, which had expired, the report said.
Smart was ultimately issued a citation for retail theft and given a trespass warning. She is due in court on Aug. 4.
