A Lake County woman was arrested for assault after allegedly threatening her boyfriend and a neighbor with a knife.
The boyfriend of 51-year-old Angel Kulp called the police to his Leesburg home when she threatened him with a steak knife and screamed at his neighbors at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, July 16, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
He told officers that he was currently in a relationship with Kulp but was planning to end it soon. They had lived together for about six months, and three of those were at the current address, the report said.
That morning, one of their neighbor’s female friends approached the boyfriend, and they started talking. Kulp noticed this and decided to grab an 11-inch steak knife with a serrated blade. She walked outside with it, arguing with the friend while waving the knife around, the report said.
Kulp pointed the knife at the friend during the altercation and threatened to hurt her with it. The friend then left, and Kulp approached the boyfriend. She waved the knife within a few feet of him and threatened to hurt him with it, too, the report said.
The boyfriend feared Kulp would “stab” him, so he backed away and told her to calm down. He also called law enforcement for help, the report said.
While law enforcement interviewed the boyfriend, Kulp was inside the home. It took a while for her to answer the door, and when she did, she wore only a towel. The officers told her to put on appropriate clothes and come out to speak with them, the report said.
Kulp returned several minutes later. She admitted to having a knife, but she kept it behind her back the entire time. The officer noticed a kitchen knife on the porch ledge and asked the boyfriend if it was the correct one, and he stated it was not, the report said.
Kulp advised that it was in the shower, which she ultimately retrieved from the ledge of the bathtub. The boyfriend then confirmed it was the right knife, the report said.
The native of Thailand was arrested on charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (domestic). She was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $2,500.
