A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting a man with a shoe for commenting on her teeth.
Officers responded to the Leesburg Police Department, located at 115 E Magnolia St., regarding a verbal disturbance happening inside a car headed that way around 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, according to an arrest report from the LPD. Dispatch could hear 27-year-old Rebecca Leigh Goff and a man arguing over the phone.
Goff repeatedly yelled, “Give me back my phone.” She then disconnected the call and called back, saying the man had punched her in the face and pulled her hair. During the altercation, the man yelled, “She spit on me.” They continued to drive toward the LPD, the report said.
The first officer to speak with the male victim was told that Goff became upset when he commented on her teeth. She took off her sandal, threw it at him and hit him with it about five times while he was driving. He struck her back because he was driving and did not want to be hit, the report said.
Goff provided a similar account and admitted she became angry after the victim’s comment about her teeth. She threw her shoe at him, so he took it and hit her back on the bicep. She also alleged that he pulled her hair during the altercation, the report said.
She was subsequently arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
