A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting her boyfriend during an argument over the television plug.

An officer responded to a physical altercation involving 29-year-old Brittany Renee Sapp and her boyfriend at their Leesburg residence around 11:05 p.m. Thursday, July 9, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The boyfriend advised that they had been dating for five to six years, and they had lived together for about one year. They were in their bedroom when an argument started over him watching television. Sapp became agitated with the volume, and after arguing about it, she pulled the plug out of the wall, the report said.

He went to plug it back in, but because it was dark and she was sitting in a chair in front of the socket, they fumbled over each other. He still plugged the television back in, so Sapp pushed him off her. She then walked over to him and hit his left bicep. This left a red mark on his arm, the report said.

The officer next spoke to Sapp, who stated the couple had been having relationship issues since June. She described the same sequence of events, but she stated the incident did not become physical. She did not know about any marks, although she admitted to pushing her boyfriend because he was on top of her trying to plug in the television, the report said.

Sapp was ultimately arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released on her own recognizance and is responsible for appearing in court on Aug. 4.
