My beloved mother Carolyn Byrd, 88, of Leesburg, Florida passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026.
Born in Winter Haven, Florida to Harold and Gladys Keck, Carolyn graduated from Frostproof High School in 1955 and earned her teaching degree from Florida State University in 1958.
She married Charles Byrd of Frostproof in 1957 and together they raised two children.
She taught school for 33 years, first in Frostproof and then in Leesburg, Florida, touching countless lives.
She loved being outdoors, whether it was gardening or taking walks with her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Elwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gladys Keck; brother Larry Keck; son Tim Byrd; and husband of 65 years Charles Byrd.
The family will hold a private service in Frostproof, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Carolyn’s memory to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL 32778
