A Leesburg teen was found at a local bar after a reported ruckus involving his child and the child’s mother.

An officer responded to a disturbance at the home of 19-year-old Bradley Phillip Baird around 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

A female resident advised that they were arguing, and Baird became aggressive when they could not reach an agreement. He then slapped her right ear and threw the child’s toys, one of which hit a child on the leg, the report said.

The resident sustained a reddish, swollen mark on her right ear. The child had a cast on, so the officer did not find any visible injuries. The home was also in utter disarray, possibly caused by the disturbance, the report said.

Baird was not on scene at the time, although dispatch learned he was currently on probation out of Lake County for an obstruction crime and possession of a firearm. He was found later that evening by Fruitland Park officers, who located him at the Legends Bar and Grill, 3323 U.S. Hwy. 441, Fruitland Park, the report said.

Leesburg officers arrived and asked him about the incident. Baird stated he returned home after having a verbal argument to retrieve his belongings. He became angry after the resident told him that he would not be able to see his children again, the report said.

He grew agitated and enraged, so he started throwing things around the house. A piece of a child’s toy broke off and hit a child in the process. He did not intentionally aim for the child, not did he ever strike the resident. He claimed her injury was from an ear infection, the report said.

Baird was arrested on charges of simple battery (domestic) and child abuse (simple assault or battery). He was booked at the Lake County Jail where he was initially held without bond.
