A Clermont man was arrested on drug charges after the execution of a search warrant yielded a trafficking amount of methamphetamine.
Members of the Mid-Florida SWAT team executed a residential narcotics search warrant at an address on Pitt Street at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. Upon breaching the front door, they encountered 35-year-old Rashad “Bloody” Jamaal Neal and his sister.
Detectives with the CPD Crime Suppression Unit and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit proceeded to search the residence. Starting in the master bedroom, they found a baggie with 7.8 grams of cocaine, a baggie with less than a gram of cocaine, two amphetamine pills and a black scale on top of the nightstand, the report said.
On the top left post of the bed sat a black and silver handgun loaded with eight rounds of .380 ammunition. Moving on to the closet, law enforcement discovered a gallon zip-lock bag with five individually packed baggies of methamphetamine. Each baggie weighed about 29 grams, the report said.
Neal initially refused to speak with the detectives, but he later agreed to answer questions of his choosing. However, after refusing to answer which room was his, he asked to just be taken to jail. His sister also refused to answer any questions, the report said.
The report noted that while preparing to go to jail, Neal asked a detective if he could retrieve his red slides. He then walked into the master bedroom to get the shoes.
A check of his criminal history determined he had been released from the Florida Department of Corrections for charges out of Lake County involving trafficking in fentanyl, possession of cannabis (over 20 grams) and possession of cocaine. These charges stemmed from the execution of another warrant at the same residence on Pitt Street, the report said.
Other charges included aggravated assault with a firearm two counts of resisting law enforcement without violence and carrying a concealed firearm, the report said.
In this case, Neal was arrested on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, as well as possession of cocaine, amphetamine, drug paraphernalia and firearm/ammo by a convicted felon. He was booked at the Lake County Jail without bond.
