A sex offender in Leesburg was arrested for driving with a suspended license for possibly the ninth time.
An officer received an alert about a white Genesis sedan traveling westbound on State Road 44 around 2:20 p.m. Sunday, May 24, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The 52-year-old registered owner, Zhaddeus Taireik Richardson, had a suspended license.
A look at his driving history determined he had cancellations and suspensions dating from Jan. 26 through April 30, the report said. He also had eight prior instances of driving with an invalid license. Additionally, his criminal history showed he was adjudicated in Lake County on Dec. 15, 1999, for unlawful sexual activity with certain minors (16 or 17 years of age).
The officer subsequently stopped Richardson on the grass shoulder near Countryside Boulevard. He knew his license was suspended, and he would try to get it resolved on Tuesday. When asked why he would drive if he knew he had a bad license, he stated he needed to do stuff, the report said.
Richardson was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended (second or subsequent offense). He was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
