A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly throwing a Twinkie at a woman’s head during an argument over stolen clothes.
A deputy responded to Circle K, located at 2211 Citrus Blvd., Leesburg, on Monday, May 25 for an alleged battery that happened inside the gas station, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The female victim advised that 37-year-old Royce Allen Parnell struck her in the back of the head.
She explained that they had been arguing over stolen clothes for the past few days. She did not know if he hit her or had thrown something at her head, the report said.
Reviewing surveillance footage the next day determined Parnell had been standing behind the victim, looking her up and down. He then approached her at the checkout line and initiated a verbal altercation. His body language was very animated, including running up on her and backing off, the report said
Every time he got close to the victim, he waved his hands inches from her face and head. On his last approach, he threw something at her head. She then got in his face and continued their verbal altercation. She shoved him away, at which point he left the building, the report said.
The deputy later interviewed Parnell, who confirmed the argument was over allegations of the victim stealing his clothes from his tent. He did indeed throw a Twinkie at her head, the report said.
The Alabama native was arrested on charge of battery and booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
