A Sarasota woman was arrested on drug charges after being stopped at Circle K with methamphetamine and a cut straw.
An officer stopped a silver Nissan sedan at Circle K, 100 W Miller St., at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The female driver and passenger, 44-year-old Robin Guinnivere Cooper, mounted a cell phone on the dashboard to watch a video with the car in motion, a violation of state statutes.

When speaking to law enforcement, the driver denied that there was anything illegal in her vehicle. She became flustered and unsure when asked for permission to search the vehicle, so a K-9 was deployed to check for the scent of narcotics. The K-9 positively alerted to the presence of something, and a search began, the report said.
The officer found several strips of suboxone, or buprenorphine, in a bag positioned in the passenger seat. Cooper already claimed to have a prescription for it, but there was no information on the packaging, the report said.
A search of Cooper’s person yielded a plastic baggie of methamphetamine. She then admitted that she had a straw in her right shoe, but she had already removed it. The straw was made of plastic and had been cut short, a common method for ingesting narcotics through the nose, the report said.
Cooper was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,500 bond.
