The Central Florida Dragon Boat Challenge returns to Ski Beach in Leesburg on Saturday, May 23.
This community festival will bring together 52 teams, hundreds of spectators and community supporters from across the state for an exciting day of racing, camaraderie and family-friendly fun.
Organized by the Lake County Dragon Boat Club, the annual event celebrates the sport of dragon boating while promoting teamwork, wellness and community engagement. Organizers are proud to announce that Community Health Centers will serve as the Title Sponsor for the 2026 event. Community Health Centers have demonstrated a commitment to public health and wellness, as evidenced by their sponsorship of this low-impact, high-intensity exercise ideal for people of all ages.

The Central Florida Dragon Boat Challenge will feature both competitive and recreational racing divisions, as well as live entertainment, vendors, food and other community partners. The crowd-favorite event, however, is the “Rubber Chicken Challenge,” in which racers must deposit a rubber chicken in a floating bin at the finish line to win, adding a fun and unique twist to traditional dragon boat racing.
Teams of all experience levels have been invited to participate, from seasoned paddlers to first-time crews looking for a memorable team-building experience. Spectators are encouraged to come and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and live entertainment along the waterfront at Ski Beach, support the community sponsors and indulge in delicious food.
