A Clermont woman was arrested for battery after allegedly punching her mother on the back during an argument.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance between 37-year-old Shannon Nicole Pent and her mother at their home in Clermont around 11:50 a.m. Sunday, May 10, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. They met Pent’s mother across the street in front of a neighbor’s house.
She advised that she was arguing with Pent while taking her husband, Pent’s father, to the bathroom. All of a sudden, Pent started punching her back and stated she hoped she and her husband would die. The mother then ran across the street to call the police, the report said.
While speaking with law enforcement, the mother lifted the back of her shirt to show them multiple red marks all over her back, the report said.
The officers later interviewed Pent in front of the residence. She explained that she asked her mother for her debit card and cash, to which she stated, “You have to wait till I find it.” Her mother then swung a bag on her shoulder and hit Pent, the report said.
Pent responded by using her elbow to nudge her mother, who ran across the street to call the police. She denied hitting her mother on her back, the report said.
Pent’s brother did not witness the incident, nor did her father. The latter only saw the red marks on the mother’s back. He added that Pent had been causing issues, and he wanted her out of the house, the report said.
Pent was arrested on charge of battery (domestic) and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $5,000 bond.
