A Sarasota woman was arrested for battery after allegedly slapping medical staff at LifeStream.
A registered nurse at LifeStream, 2020 Tally Rd., was working at her station in the female unit when 54-year-old Cherene Wells verbally attacked another nurse around 7:40 a.m. Sunday, May 3, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The RN tried to de-escalate the situation, only for Wells to slap her in the mouth. After being struck, she restrained Wells until other medical providers arrived to assist, the report said.
The other nurse later told law enforcement that she was waking up patients for breakfast when Wells approached her in the hallway. She began yelling at her about a prior incident, which was when the RN came to help. She then saw Wells “smack” the RN in the face, the report said.
As an officer spoke to the RN and the other nurse about this, Wells stated, “Ma’am, I’m very sorry, I did do that. I did hit her. I’m not going to deny it.”
Wells was ultimately arrested Tuesday evening on charge of simple battery on a law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, etc. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.
