A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after removing meth and two pipes from his buttocks during a traffic stop.
Deputies stopped a red passenger car at Circle K, 2055 W C 48, Bushnell, for running a red light around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A K-9 unit arrived on scene and positively alerted to the odor of narcotics, meaning the occupants, including 41-year-old Franklin Edward Roundtree, were taken out of the vehicle.
Roundtree was then pat down, revealing a marijuana pipe in his right pocket. There was also a bulge felt protruding from his buttocks. He would not say what this was at first, but he later advised that it was a baggie of methamphetamine and more pipes, the report said.
He ultimately removed a baggie of methamphetamine and two pipes with methamphetamine residue from his buttocks. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a black bag containing a clear plastic straw with methamphetamine residue, the report said.
Roundtree was arrested on charges of possession of drug equipment and methamphetamine. The Alabama native was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,500 bond.
