A Lake County woman was arrested for violating a pretrial release during an argument with her boyfriend over another woman.
An officer overheard 53-year-old Catherine Erlene Sceal and her boyfriend of five years yelling at each other near South Canal and Pine Streets around 7:50 a.m. Thursday, April 2, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
More officers responded to the area and found the couple on the sidewalk. They then learned the two had an active no-victim contact order in place between them. This was a result of Sceal’s arrest for domestic battery against her boyfriend on March 10, the report said.
The two stated they had walked to a nearby convenience store because the boyfriend wanted Sceal to buy him alcohol. In Sceal’s words, there was a female at the store who tried to “steal her man.” This sparked a loud verbal argument between the two parties, prompting officers to respond, the report said.
Both Sceal and her boyfriend believed the no-victim contact order had been rescinded, as the latter had requested to drop the charges. Dispatch confirmed this to be true, but the order was still active at the time, the report said.
Sceal was subsequently arrested on charge of violate pretrial release condition for domestic violence. She was booked at Lake County Jail without bond.
