A Lake County man was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting his husband in the mouth during an argument.
Several officers were called to assist EMS with a combative, intoxicated patient around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Upon arrival, they met with the husband of 38-year-old Wayne Michael Brockmeyer, who had a cut on his mouth from an earlier battery incident in the couple’s two-story apartment.
He advised that Brockmeyer had gotten very drunk and taken a fall upstairs. The husband took their dog and went back downstairs, where Brockmeyer joined him for an argument a short time later. This was when Brockmeyer swung at his husband, hitting the left side of his mouth, the report said.
The strike left a cut on the left side of the husband’s lower lip. They both then fell to the ground between the couch sections, after which the husband jumped over the couch and went outside to use a neighbor’s phone. He called 911 while Brockmeyer went back upstairs and continued to drink, the report said.
Due to Brockmeyer’s high level of intoxication, he was transported to a hospital in Leesburg. He was later medically cleared and booked at Lake County Jail, the report said.
Brockmeyer was charged with simple battery (domestic). Bond was set at $1,000.
