
Matthew Gene Strokus 56, of Umatilla, Florida passed away on March 23, 2026. Born in Tampa Florida, he moved to Umatilla in 2012 from Zephyrhills.
Matthew was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working in his yard and playing with his grandchildren. Matthew had several careers throughout his life. The two he was most proud of was his lawn care business and his long haul interstate truck driving.
He is survived by his wife, Sharonda Strokus; father, Jerome J. Strokus of Roanoke, Virginia; mother, Claudia J Sauls of Zephyrhills, Florida; daughter, Whitney Smith of Umatilla Florida, Wilnesha Smith of Deltona, Florida and son Sharod Cunningham of Tavares, Florida; brothers, Vince Strokus of Hudson, New Hampshire, Phill Strokus of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jacob Strokus of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Denise Salerno of Elba, Alabama and Jessica Strokus of Washington DC; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home Umatilla Chapel.
