A Lake County man has claimed over $62,000 from a lottery ticket that he got for free from a local Publix.
Winston George Bennett, of Clermont, claimed a $62,699.36 top prize from the Fantasy 5 midday drawing held on Wednesday, April 1.
According to Florida Lottery records, the winning ticket was a “QuickPick” that was provided to Bennett for free as part of a previous play.
The winning ticket was acquired at the Publix located at 1685 N. Hancock Road in Minneola. Bennett was the sole winner in the state to match all five numbers for that specific drawing.
The winning numbers for the midday drawing on Wednesday, April 1, were 5, 19, 24, 26, and 29.
The latest win adds to a string of lottery ticket wins in Lake County in recent months.
Last month, a winning Powerball ticket worth $10 million was sold at a Circle K in Leesburg. That prize, won during the March 11 “Double Play” drawing, marked one of the largest lottery payouts in the county’s history.
Another $1 million prize was claimed from a ticket sold at a RaceTrac in Groveland in February, and another $1 million scratch-off was claimed by a Groveland woman in October 2025.
Fantasy 5 is a daily game where players select five numbers from 1 to 36. While the top prize amount fluctuates based on ticket sales, Bennett’s match of all five numbers entitled him to the full $62,699.36 jackpot.
