A Lady Lake man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped for speeding in Leesburg.
A deputy stopped 28-year-old Javontay Lamar Whyte near the Plantation development in Leesburg around 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed he had reached 84 miles per hour in his silver Hyundai despite the posted speed limit of 55 mph.
Whyte advised that he had just come from court and was now headed to the DMV. He then handed over an Orange County Courthouse document saying a traffic case had been continued to April. A subsequent check of his driving history revealed eight active suspensions from unpaid traffic fines. He also had a prior conviction for driving while his license was suspended in Lake County on Dec. 17, 2025, the report said.
He was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended with knowledge (second offense) and issued a citation for unlawful speeding. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
