A Coleman woman was arrested for battery after allegedly attacking an elderly doctor who refused to let her leave LifeStream.
An officer responded to LifeStream Behavioral Center, located at 2020 Tally Rd., for a battery involving 25-year-old Emily Rose Carlson at 8 a.m. Monday, March 16, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
A medical doctor advised that he was evaluating Carlson’s mental health when she became aggravated with him. She wanted to leave that day, but he stated she was not going to be discharged. She then asked to be transferred to another unit and was again told no, the report said.
Carlson responded by saying she would beat up everyone in the unit if she did not move. When her evaluation was finished, the doctor’s assistant began to escort her out of his office. She proceeded to hit and scratch the doctor several times, knocking him to the floor, the report said.
The doctor now wanted her discharged immediately and wished to press charges. He sustained small bloody scratches on the top of his head and a red mark on the top of his right eye. He refused medical treatment in favor of taking himself to the hospital, the report said.
His statement was corroborated by his assistant and Carlson, who both gave similar accounts. Security footage did not capture what happened inside his office, but it did show the doctor falling on the ground in the doorway and his assistant running out to ask for help. Other staff members removed Carlson from the office, and as they did so, she kicked the doctor in the head as he was on the ground, the report said.
Carlson was arrested on charge of battery on person 65 years of age or older. The Illinois native was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
