Two Leesburg residents escaped injury in a crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
A 68-year-old Leesburg man had been driving a sports utility vehicle at 2:18 p.m. Sunday at SE 95th Street Road and SE 170th Avenue Road in Ocklawaha when the motorcyclist made a left turn in front of the SUV, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcyclist and the SUV collided in the intersection.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 36-year-old Ocala man was killed as a result of the crash. The report indicated he had not been wearing a helmet.
The Leesburg man and his 87-year-old female passenger, also of Leesburg, were not injured in the crash.
