A Leesburg man was arrested for burglary after allegedly walking onto a woman’s porch and grabbing her by the shirt.
Officers responded to a battery at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatchers advised that 34-year-old Michael Anthony Hodge grabbed the female complainant’s shirt and was now standing in front of her house.
Once at the scene, the officers found Hodge still standing in front of the residence. They detained him and went to speak with the complainant, the report said.
She stated that Hodge approached her on her porch and started trying to speak to her. He asked if she was home alone and if he could come inside. She said no, to which she grabbed the middle of her shirt near her stomach, stretching the fabric, the report said.
The complainant told him to leave before quickly retreating into her residence to call law enforcement. Hodge proceeded to pace back and forth in front of the residence, smiling until officers arrived, the report said.
An officer tried to interview Hodge about this incident, but he rambled on about nonsense. He only stated he was just walking through the neighborhood, the report said.
A subsequent check of his criminal history revealed multiple convictions of simple and aggravated battery, the report said.
Hodge was arrested on charge of burglary with assault or battery (no forced entry). He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
