A homeless woman was arrested for loitering after eating noodles behind a gun shop with plans to dig through the dumpster.
A deputy responded to a camera alert at The Gun Shop Inc. & Gun Range, located at 1310 SR 44, Leesburg, around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The complainant advised that two people, including 45-year-old Jessica Lynn Kadelsik, were shining flashlights in the back of the business near the dumpster.
Upon arrival, the deputy caught Kadelsik on a bike near the dumpster. She dropped everything and showed her hands at the deputy’s command, saying her male companion fled on an electronic scooter. She indicated he took off after telling her to go westbound on State Road 44, the report said.
She later advised that she and her companion came to the business about 10 minutes before law enforcement showed up. They were near the dumpster where she was finishing eating ramen noodles from a cup. She wanted to throw away her soup cup in the dumpster and look for bags or waterproof cases that gun stores typically discarded, the report said.
Kadelsik’s bike bag had been ripped, and she hoped to find a replacement. Her companion used his scooter’s light as a flashlight while she looked in the dumpster. She denied either of them trying to jump the fence, trying door handles or taking any property, the report said.
A subsequent search of her belongings yielded what she described as used needles in a black glasses case marked with a medical hazard symbol. The case also contained a clear pipe and two straws, the report said.
In total, the deputy found four needles and a small plastic bag with crystalline residue. She stated the needles were hers, and she kept the empty bags “just in case” because she did not want children to find them at her camp. She admitted they previously held methamphetamine, the report said.
Kadelsik was arrested on charge of loitering and prowling. She was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $500.
The Michigan native was also arrested in March 2025 and in May 2024 for trespassing.
