A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after being tracked from a gas station to Walmart for his odd behavior.
Officers responded to 7-Eleven, located at 16950 U.S. Hwy. 441, regarding 38-year-old Hank William Owens at 3:45 p.m. March 5, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department. He had been following customers around the store and putting his hands in the air while dropping items. The caller believed he seemed to be under the influence of narcotics.
Upon arrival, the officers learned Owens was walking toward Walmart, located at 17030 U.S. Hwy. 441. They then found him and searched his person, revealing a small tube with white residue, a clear plastic baggie with 0.4 grams of fentanyl, another baggie with white residue and a piece of tinfoil with burnt black residue, the report said.
Owens was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. He was booked at Lake County Jail with bond set at $3,500.
He was also arrested in June 2025 after stealing a bike from a detective’s son.
