A Leesburg man was arrested for driving without a license after being stopped with a vehicle with invalid tag lights.

An officer observed 47-year-old John Michael Cassidy driving a blue 2006 Ford sedan westbound on U.S. Hwy. 441 around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department.

The vehicle’s tag lights were invalid, leading to a traffic stop near State Road 44. A subsequent check of Cassidy’s driving history revealed he never had a valid driver’s license. He possessed only an ID since about 2013, the report said.

Cassidy was arrested on charge of no driver’s license (never had one) and transported to Lake County Jail. The New York native was released after posting $500 bond.
