A Lady Lake teen will appear in court after allegedly stealing various food and drink items during her shifts at Walmart.
A loss prevention associate of Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., saw 18-year-old La’trice Anderson, a fellow employee, not paying for items around 4:10 p.m., Dec. 18, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. She skip-scanned a 1.5oz pack of ranch and ticket switched a blanket worth $19.97, instead paying just $0.80.
Seeing this, an investigation began into every transaction she made from her start date at the store, the report said. Loss prevention determined that she skip-scanned on six different occasions. These incidents happened on Dec. 2, 2025, for two bags of $8.48 gummy bears; on Dec. 11, 2025, for a $0.88 Kiwi beverage; on Dec. 16, 2025, for a fried chicken platter; on Dec. 17, 2025, for two bags of $2.28 Ruffles chips; and on Dec. 18 when the thefts were noticed.
It was not until Dec. 20 that the loss prevention associate interviewed Anderson at the store where she admitted to the thefts. She was later turned over to deputies in the loss prevention office, the report said.
Anderson was issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft with a court date of Jan. 7. She was subsequently released on her own recognizance.
