A Leesburg woman was arrested after an officer found marijuana beside her during a traffic stop near Wawa.
An officer spotted 42-year-old Stephanie Maria Woods leaving the parking lot of Wawa, located at 17700 U.S. Hwy. 441, around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department.
Her vehicle, a blue 2013 Ford Mustang, had extremely dark tint on the driver and passenger side windows, making the interior not visible. She also slowed below the flow of traffic when she noticed the officer. Seeing this, he stopped her at U.S. Hwy. 441 and Gables Drive, the report said.
When the officer approached the window, he immediately smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Woods denied having a medical marijuana card, Delta-8 or Delta-9 products, hemp and anything consistent with THC in her possession. However, the odor of marijuana gave the officer probable cause to search her vehicle, the report said.
He then found marijuana on the floorboard near Woods, near the passenger side and the center console. She admitted smoking it and stated that the 8.1 grams of marijuana found in the vehicle were old, the report said.
Woods was arrested on charge of possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
