A Fruitland Park woman was arrested on drug charges after pulling a baggie of fentanyl out of her bra during a traffic stop.

An officer saw 37-year-old Riki Dawn Mitchell riding a bicycle west on Myer Avenue around 10:05 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. As she approached the intersection with County Road 468, she did not stop at the stop sign.

As such, the officer stopped her and asked to search the bags attached to her bicycle. She denied consent, and he requested a K-9 unit to respond to the scene. The K-9 positively alerted to the odor of narcotics, and a search ensued, the report said.

The officers started by looking in a small fanny pack hanging from the bicycle’s handlebars. Inside was a burnt bundled piece of copper wire, which is known to be used for narcotics, the report said.

During the search, Mitchell advised that she had something in her bra. She pulled out two baggies from the left side of her bra, one of which contained 0.4 grams of fentanyl. Other items found on her person included two cut straws, one of which had white residue inside, and pieces of tinfoil, the report said.

Mitchell was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. She was also issued a written warning for failing to stop at a stop sign. The Texas native was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $7,500.

She was also arrested in January for lying about her identity during a traffic stop with a glass pipe and in July 2023 when she was busted for seeking a driver’s license with a phony ID.
