A pair of teens was charged with theft after they admitted to discussing stealing some things while in the Halloween section at Walmart.

An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding a theft in progress around 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he met with loss prevention who had 18-year-old Antonio Markus Lines of Leesburg and 18-year-old Ariana Lopez of Tavares detained in their office.

Loss prevention advised that they came into the store together and went to the cosmetics department. They looked around in multiple directions as if to avoid being noticed before Lines picked up several things to put in a bag. He and Lopez then moved to aisles in the clearance section where they put more items into their bags, the report said.

The pair later walked to the shoe department where they concealed some shoes. They then left separately through the general merchandise doors, passing all points of sale without paying. They were ultimately stopped by loss prevention and escorted to the office, the report said.

Lines stole a total of $114.84 in merchandise, including two JS P2 TH makeup items, primer, a pair of AP HW socks, setting spray, a lace skull item, SP Lash 647, pink fishnets, IMP HW nails, Carptentersa, claw slippers and THI tights. Lopez took $53.45 in merchandise, including primer, setting spray, LOP foundation, NYX lip balm, Maybelline concealer and a two-pack of sponges, the report said.

Lines initially stated he was in the store to get a job application. He later admitted that he and Lopez decided to steal merchandise because they did not have any money. He added that while browsing Halloween items, they discussed taking several things and concealing them with the intent to leave without paying, the report said.

Lopez also admitted to her involvement, confirming she and Lines agreed to steal items together, the report said.

Lines was arrested on charge of retail theft and transported to Lake Couty Jail. The Ohio native was released after posting $1,000 bond.

Lopez was issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft and released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on Oct. 28.
