A Mount Dora woman was arrested for disorderly intoxication after allegedly stealing three bottles of wine from 7-Eleven.
An officer responded to 7-Eleven, located at 19955 U.S. Hwy. 441, regarding a theft around 3:20 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department. Upon arrival, a deputy already had 43-year-old Corinne Cheree Jones detained.
She appeared to be extremely intoxicated and repeatedly tried to walk away from law enforcement. The officer helped put her in the back of a patrol vehicle as she yelled. She smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet, using nearby objects and the vehicle for balance, the report said.
During this process, Jones said, “I know I stole the bottle. I don’t care, arrest me.” An employee explained she had been trespassed the night before after coming into the store and leaving with a bottle of wine she did not pay for. When he tried to get it back, she took two sips before returning it, the report said.
She then came into the store again, went to the back cooler and took out another bottle of wine. The employee asked for an ID, to which she stated she did not have one and left without paying. He followed her outside and recovered the stolen bottle, the report said.
Jones started yelling at him and became increasingly belligerent. Moments later, she went back into the store, got another bottle of wine and left without paying once more, the report said.
The native of Hawaii was arrested on charges of disorderly intoxication, trespass after warning and petit theft. She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
