A fugitive wanted out of Connecticut for conspiracy to commit homicide was arrested during a traffic stop in Mascotte two weeks ago.
On June 27, Mascotte patrol officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Bay Lake Avenue and Aquarius Street, according to the Mascotte Police Department. The officers initially stopped the driver for a traffic violation and asked for ID from the passenger, 33-year-old Kevin Dias. He gave them a false Social Security number at first but later gave his true identity.
Lake County dispatch confirmed that Dias had an active arrest warrant out of Connecticut for homicide (conspiracy to commit murder), related to a 2018 homicide in Waterbury, Conn. The officers placed him under arrest without incident.
The Waterbury Police Department is still seeking two additional suspects in connection with the case: Santos Vasquez-Rivera and Carlos Alvarado.
